Discover Your Self-Will

Life’s greatest challenge is turning what you know, into what you do! We all know things that are best for us, but until we assert our power to act upon what we know we should do, even the best plans remain unrealized.

Everything is always easier said than done. Following through with action can be difficult. We all search for strategies, shortcuts, techniques and formulas as to easy ways to get things done. But the inescapable reality of it all is to “Just Do It”. By reclaiming your Will, you reclaim your life. It is self-discipline and self-control. It can overcome life’s obstacles, laying a solid foundation for success within your internal and external world.

Difficulties and obstacles can intimidate us. We need to become a hurdler of those obstacles preventing us from completing our life race. Exploration and open-mindedness are two important traits of a strong Will. Your Will is like a muscle, it grows stronger with use. It needs to move and exert itself. Your inner strength is constantly waiting to be called upon, to keep growing stronger. Rebuild, re-awaken and reclaim it!

Your Will is like a faithful friend, by your side on good and bad days. It is there to constantly tell you right from wrong, good from bad. You can always depend upon your Will because it comes from within you.

When you “will” something – when you act out of duty, commitment, loyalty or integrity – you depend only on your power to act. With it, you don’t need motivation. It is the “sleeping giant” within you. Know that “you” are cheering “you” on. Then, do what you have set out to do. Set life goals and see them through. If you backslide on goals, love yourself anyways, and hold your course. Your cheering section will still be with you, awaiting your return to get back on track.

Whether or not you know your ultimate purpose or goals in life, begin with the “now”. Handle what is directly in front of you. One small goal at a time. By paying attention to each day, each moment, every step ahead leads you to where you are needing to be or accomplish what is needing to be done.

To change the course of your life, you can choose one of two basic methods:

  1. You can direct all your energy and attention toward trying to find your focus, free your emotions, visualize outcomes and then develop the confidence and courage to find determination to make the commitment and then feel sufficiently motivated to do something… OR
  2. You can “just do it”.

Don’t be a master of “if only” – if only I had more time, more money, a better job, more opportunities etc. Life is tough. You need to be tougher! Reclaiming your Will isn’t easy, but life is not about easy. It never has been, nor will it ever be. It’s about finding inner strength you didn’t know you had. The power to move forward does not depend on what you hope, wish, think, believe – it depends on what you “do”. Doing can be tough and life can be difficult. But, life develops in us only what it demands of us.

For, if your purpose in life is to make it “easier” for you – don’t get married, don’t have children, avoid responsibilities, work minimally and live cheaply. Don’t commit, nor volunteer, don’t own things or consider life goals. Just hitchhike through life. And, that’s okay, I suppose. If that’s all you might seek in life?

However, do know that sitting out the “dance of life” is like taking a permanent vacation on a deserted island where no human potential is necessary, other than mere survival.

Always remember, we all have a life mission and a purpose for being here. Every life has its heroic struggles. We need to reach inside of ourselves to find that power within us to persevere in the face of all odds and obstacles. Your goals await your arrival to begin at the starting line, then keep moving forward.

So, keep on running your life marathon to reach your life destination and celebrate your goals of success. We are all in constant life-training. Persistence, perseverance and endurance are your friends and will always be there to help you move with Will and intention towards your dreams, making them reality. Find the power within you. It was never lost, just waiting to be found. You have always, and will always, possess it.
