What makes our focus so important in life? Can we get better results? Can it make us feel less stressed? Happier? An absolute “yes” to all the above!

Focus is the center of activity, attraction or attention – the point of our concentration.

Being focused means that you have clear goals and objectives and your work is dedicated to achieving those goals and objectives. When you are deciding what you are going to do in any given moment, you base your decision on how you can make the most progress towards your goals and the time and resources available.

Being focused on one thing for a certain period of time allows you to do better quality of work, at a faster rate while being more creative, as ideas flow easier. Being focused on one task at a time is less stressful on your mind. Thus, a less stressful mind = a happy mind!

By being focused in the present moment, you are solely focused on the one activity that you are trying to complete. Everything else seems unimportant at that moment, so with no distractions you can give your full and undivided attention to the task at hand.

The alternative to focus is doing a whole lot of everything, jumping from one task to another without a true feeling of accomplishment. Multi-tasking is where people believe they are accomplishing a great deal but they are actually working slower and to a less-effective standard. Research has shown that multi-tasking is not very effective as the results will never be as good as focusing on one thing at a time.

With that said, it can be very difficult to focus on one task at a time for a variety of reasons. We all live in a world of many distractions. Focus needs to happen where you can allow yourself to concentrate. You need to find a way to shut out distractions to allow your mental state to be at ease to focus on the task at hand. This may take some practice, but well worth the effort. Practice calming your mind by working in less stressful, busy environment or using mind control to itemize where your attention needs to be, and go there to accomplish that specific task. Create a to-do list prioritizing which task needs to be completed first, next etc.

Always remember, that our brain is far more powerful than a computer. It has the most amazing processing power and its creativity and intelligence are virtually limitless. When we focus on one task, all of our mental gift is flowing on that particular task. Think of the creative possibilities and your result of excellence when that happens!

In the case of taking on too much work and having to multi-task, it is easy to become overwhelmed and overworked. Severe stress then sets in causing so many other problems in several life balances – mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, occupationally and potentially more.

Focus allows your subconscious to do the work. Once you focus solely on one task at a time, your subconscious helps you do them quicker and easier as ideas will flow smoothly. Recruit your subconscious! It is your best employee!

It has always been, and will always be, more effective to focus on one task at a time and to see that task through to completion before moving on to others. Being focused is the key to success! It is not about doing the most work, it is about doing your “best” work. Only by focusing, will that result be achieved. And, your positive results will speak volumes of your work ethic and organizational skills. Great results on tasks are hugely recognized and rewarded.

Staying focused in life = excellent life results! So, go ahead….excellence awaits you, one task at a time!
