Forgiveness Affirmations

We will never be free of anger or resentment as long as we continue to think unforgiving thoughts. It is very difficult to be happy in life when we choose to be angry and resentful. These thoughts will never create joy in our life. No matter how justified we feel we are in a situation, no matter what we feel “they” did, when you hold onto the past, we will never set our mind free of negativity.

By forgiving ourself and others, we release ourself from our own “mind prison” of the past. We want to free ourselves from being stuck in some past situation or thought process about it. It is preventing us from moving forward in life, to live freely in the “now”.

We often hold onto past thoughts in our mind due possibly to regret, sadness, hurt, fear, blame, anger, resentment or guilt. There could also be a thought of revenge, at a deeper level. Everyone of these “mind jails” come from refusal to let go and come to terms with it. It is preventing us from living in the moment, to step into a more joyous life.

If we are holding onto the past, we are unable to live fully in the present, unable to enjoy what is all around us in every given moment of our life. When we live in the present, our thoughts and words become so powerful. Do not allow past garbage wreak havoc on your present or by bringing it into your future.

When we blame others, we give away our power. We place our emotions in someone else’s hands. There will be those in life we come in contact with that trigger our emotions, howerver, it is not them in our mind or creating our actions. It is us creating what we are thinking and how we are acting. They do not have control over our thoughts and actions, only “we” do. By us taking responsiblilty for our own feelings and reactions and mastering our ability respond to those triggers, we learn to consciously choose how to react.

Firstly, we need to clarify what it means to forgive. By forgiving someone, it does not mean that we condone their behaviour. The act of forgiveness takes place in our own mind. It has nothing to do with the other person. Forgiveness allows us to set ourself free of the pain the situation has caused us. It releases ourself from the negative energy that we’ve chosen to hold onto. Forgiveness is “letting go”, We forgive others and then release them. Setting healthy boundaries is the best thing we can do for ourself and others.

We can get beyond any reason for being bitter and angry. We all have a choice what to think, how to act. We can choose to stay stuck and resentful or we can willingly forgive the past situations. We have freedom to make our life joyous. We have the freedom of choosing how we live it.

Try these affirmations to help you with this forgiving process:

  • The past is over. It has no power over me. I live in the now.
  • My heart is now opened. I forgive myself, I forgive others.
  • I am in control of my feelings. I am friends with them.
  • I release myself from the past, to create a joyous present.
  • Today I give myself the gift of freedom. I think positively from now on.
  • I am no longer a victim of my past circumstances. I am ready to heal and willing to forgive.
  • All of past mistakes I can learn from in the present.
  • I have compassion for everyone.
  • Every day is a new opportunity. The past is over and done.
  • I no longer hold the old negative thoughts that limited me from moving forward.
  • My past thoughts have been released, I am in power of positive ones.
  • I forgive myself for anything I did. I have learned from my past and now am living in the present.
  • I accept others for whom they are. They are in control of them, I do not need to be.
  • I forgive myself for not being perfect. I am being the very best version of myself.
  • I will not take responsibility for other people’s actions. That is in their control, not mine.
  • My thoughts are forgiveness, courage, gratitude, love and humor
  • I can learn from others, but my life choices are upto me.
  • I release everyone from my past perceptions. I have grown stronger and now live in the present.
  • All my thoughts are now positive, I am in control of my actions and mind.

Keep on carrying out your life purpose. Make peace with your life, with your self. Move ahead positively in your personal life direction. This constant experience of self-mastery and self-control will get you through many life storms. For, there is never any error in being “yourself”, so allow yourself to be all that you are and keep on walking the path of your positive life journey.
