Continue to Think, Talk & Feel Positive

We know the pandemic has continued to impose many challenges but it remains very important that we remain confident that “we will overcome”.

It is very gratifying to know that there is a mix of thousands of front line workers that remain committed to providing a range of services that are supporting our mental, physical and emotional well-being. Let’s do our part in this pandemic battle by continuing to think, talk and act in whatever simple ways will help us retain our wellness.

In particular, lets retain our sense of humor and the smiles, giggles and laughs that feed our positive outlook. With this objective in mind I thought it worth suggesting 10 related healthy practices and thoughts that seniors can relate to and can expand upon:

(1) Health Firs
Persist with our healthy diet, limit junk foods and remember to take our vitamins and prescriptions.
(2) Inspirational Sources
Be selective in our TY watching and book reading choices and enjoy a large share of personal entertainment that carries an inspirational message. Enjoy the satisfying feelings that a mix of happy stories and amusing shows provide. Limit time watching the pandemic news reports.
(3) Remain Thankful
Start and finish each day by recognizing and even writing a few simple things that we are thankful for that provide a source of pleasure, understanding and peace of mind. Enjoy the inner happiness they provide and include them in your prayers.
(4) Control Our Reactions
Don’t allow negative thoughts, harmless accidents and memory lapses to influence our behavior. Lets continue to interpret them as amusing experiences that will allow us to giggle and laugh at ourselves.
(5) Have Simple Daily Diversions
Make it a daily habit to include a mix of simple things that provide a source of satisfaction and pleasure. This may include reading interesting articles, going for a walk outside (or inside), simple doable exercises or cooking or baking a treat.
(6) Keep Connected
Use our communication device(s) to remain connected with family, relatives and friends and exchange news updates, views and funny and uplifting experiences. Use pen and paper to send notes and say hello when it will add to our enjoyment.
(7) Quiet Me Time
Make ourselves a cup of tea or coffee and relax and enjoy it’s taste while observing what mother nature is displaying in the surrounding environment.
(8) Bedtime
Ensure we continue to get a good night’s rest to be energized for tomorrow.
(9) Enjoy Each Day
Let’s not spend time dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Let’s focus on fulfilling each day with constructive actions and positive thoughts.
(10) Healthy Safety Practices
Let’s not relax our commitment to follow the public health orders in our personal daily habits and respect the safety of others when we leave our premises.
