We Are What We Eat

What we ingest affects our physical energy, our mind and moods and our longevity, so paying attention to what, when and how we eat is important. It is well worth the time to invest in as we definitely, are, what we eat. Your diet is like a bank account. Good food choices are good investments.

With that said, as much as we “want” to make healthy food choices, it can be difficult due to our busy schedules and the comfort and ease of food choices all around us. But, sorry to say, we all need to eat and live healthy to be and look healthy. For, our first wealth, is health. And, with food, it will need to be a lifetime committment to reach our weight and health goals.

Some say, we should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. This concept allows us to start our day with energy and taper off throughout the day. And, our diet success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. It might seem like a huge step to take in getting our eating under control, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Take it day by day and eventually your eating habits will have you feeling more energized, focused and confident.

One of the most effective means of increasing the quality and quantity of life is through our diet. These are 4 of the simpler dietary practices to focus on:

  1. Eat less food – moderation – smaller portions and less caloric intake.
  2. Eat less protein – longer living people who do not consume alot of meat have far lower cholesterol levels, less coronary disease and virtually no osteoporosis. Enjoy a variety of foods such as seasonal fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes guaranteed to provide sufficient protein, vitamins and minerals. Eating mostly raw foods promotes weight loss while ensuring high-quality nutrition and vitality.
  3. Experiment with fasting – you can sharpen your physical and mental balances through fasting at times as well as adding or subtracting various types of foods. Look into intermittent fasting to allow your body to detoxify naturally. It also provides a rest for the digestive system and improves immune functioning. Trust in your body and observe how it accepts change.
  4. Pay attention to how you eat and drink – form the habit of chewing well and savoring the taste and aroma as you eat.

Ultimately, you are the final authority over how you feed your body and you have to find what works best for you. Favour experimentation over rigid rules as a healthy diet involves lifelong learning, practice and committment. Eating healthy food fills your body with energy and nutrients. Imagine your cells smiling back at you and saying: Thank you! Plus, your mirror will love you as well!

We truly need to take care of our body. For, it’s the only place we have to live for our lifetime!
