Positive Life Change

One of life’s greatest challenges is to turn what we know into what we do. We all know that a healthy lifestyle and hard work in all areas of our life pays off. But, unless we assert our power to act upon what we know, even the best plans will remain unrealized.

Everything is always easier said than done. We all tend to search for the easier ways to do things in life, but the best way of doing anything, is to “just do it”. This action pays tribute to our willpower, self-discipline and self-control.

Whatever in life we seek or are trying to improve upon, there will be some obstacles. But, if we make up our mind to change, along with help from our internal strengths, we soon will be driving around those obstacles, past the stumbling blocks, over hurdles, through self-doubt, fear and uncertainty transcending us towards our goals. The important rule to remember with change is to pay attention to the “now”. By observing each day, each moment, with each step leads us to where we are needing to be.

It is human nature to resist change. We don’t like discomfort or uncertainty. But, once we understand that change can be good for us we can adapt better and allow it into our lives. For, without change, survival would be impossible. It exposes us to new experiences and opens many doors to life opportunities. Change is so important for our personal growth and development.

Nearly all of us have made positive change only to revert back to old habits. This is due to a natural, subconsious attachment to familiar patterns. Once habits become in place, we tend to resist change. For some, staying in a nice comfort zone feels just fine and easy. We simply follow our regular routines and it is so simple to predict the outcome. While, outside our comfort zone, our assumptions are challenged. Our beliefs, mindset and opinions are tested. We believe we will lose something of value or fear our life will be disrupted.

But, the problem isn’t with the change itself, it is more fear of the unknown. Nobody likes to have change forced upon them, but if a person can foresee positives in change they will be more likely to accept them. With so many opportunities to develop new perspectives, adapting to change and welcoming it into our life can be very uplifting, energizing and can expand our horizons in so many positive ways. Finding new ways to articulate who we are and what we believe awakens our human existence.

Yes, change can be difficult. It is hard because our brain is wired to do the same thing over and over, regardless of the activity. It can bring some new challenges to our life, but the positive consequences create growth, productivity and purpose. It is a chance to embrace new experiences as new opportunities await our arrival. For, life experiences help make us who we are.

Stepping outside our comfort zones and getting out into the world doing something new or different is an integral part of growth. Change is so positive in that we have the opportunity to embrace new life experiences. When we change, our mind expands in ways we never thought possible. We learn about limitations we have placed upon ourselves while we strive to move forward. We open ourselves up to possibility of learning from the past in order to improve upon our futures.

And, the great thing about change is that it makes us more flexible and adaptable. We are better able to handle stress in life much more comfortably, as it is in itself, life change. We begin to feel at ease in any given situation because we prove to ourself that we can handle whatever comes our way. We actually can “flourish” in those changes.

Positive change can be energizing, creative and expands our life boundaries while delivering new and consistent positive results. It brings forth the best in a person for a desired future outcome. With each positive life change brings increased levels of self-worth, self-esteem and self-awareness while providing resilience, strength and knowledge.

Here are a few suggestions to begin with when wanting or needing life change:

  • What would you like to change – you need to identify and understand why you seek this change in order to follow through. Realize how this change will effect your life, make you feel better.
  • Get rid of any negativity around this change – you need to create a positive environment to set this change in place, to follow that decision up with action.
  • Exercise more often – is great for you physically and mentally. Helps you gain purpose, drive and discipline. It also increases confidence, reduces anxiety and releases endorphines and dopamine into the brain to help you feel-good with the changes you wish to make.
  • Build a support network – provides a sense of belonging, increases your self-worth.
  • Eliminate what is not important to make room for what is – learn to simplify your life so that you can focus more on what really matters most to you. The less distractions, the more success of changes will occur.
  • Be patient – put change into perspective with manageable steps to process. Observe and enjoy each step on your journey of change by journalizing your success.

We may feel like giving into a habit or tendency, we may actually miss it and believe we need it, but soon will realize that letting go of what may be holding us back in life, needs to be left behind for us to move forward.

When something in your life needs change, find your focus, set priorities and stretch your limits. Then, most important of all, “act”. And remember, a little bit of positive change is better than nothing. Keep things easy but consistent. The power of change depends not on what we hope, wish, think or feel or even believe – it depends on what we “do”. Doing can be difficult in life, but life wasn’t meant to be simple. It develops in us only what it demands of us.

Find your inner strength to keep moving forward and making positive change. And, remember, in seeking and accomplishing our goals, we didn’t come here for “easy”. Life changes and improvements take time and effort to flourish. Enjoy your open-mindedness, exploration and growth. Your hard work and committment will always pay off. Enjoy all the many opportunities awaiting your arrival.
